The Education Committee investigates and monitors all aspects of the veterinary and para-veterinary undergraduate standards for registration, including examination standards and teaching facilities and reports regularly to the Council.

The SAVC Education Committee deals, inter alia, with the following:

Visitations to tertiary training institutions:

GLOBAL ACCREDITATION OF QUALIFICATIONS AND RECOGNITION OF VISITS

MONITORING STANDARDS OF TRAINING

Monitoring of all subjects in all programmes:

Animal Health:                     UNISA (National Diploma - Animal Health)

                                                North West University (NWU), The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences
                                                and Technology (FAST) (Diploma and Degree - Animal Health)

Veterinary Science:              University of Pretoria (UP), The Faculty of Veterinary Science (BVSc)

Veterinary Nursing:              University of Pretoria (UP), The Faculty of Veterinary Science (DVN)

Veterinary Technology:        Tshwane University of Technology (TUT)

 

Monitoring guidelines and forms used for BVSc and DVN (UP); Animal Health (NWU and UNISA) and Veterinary Technology (TUT) are revised and updated.

Annual reporting from the Veterinary Faculty, including applications and admissions are reviewed.

General examination matters are regularly reviewed, e.g. examination documents; revision of the SAVC question data bank, etc.

For more information on the examinations, select the Professions menubar option on the home page of www.savc.org.za,  select the relevant profession and then find the examination information in the bar on the left hand side of the page. 

Appointment of an examination officer, moderators and examiners for the annual SAVC Full Registration Examination for veterinarians, veterinary nurses, animal health technicians and veterinary technologists. Reviewing the examination process and results before submission to Council. Consideration of Competency Specific Registration (CSR) Examinations.

All training matters related to laboratory animal technologists, veterinary nurses, animal health technicians and veterinary technologists.

New para-veterinary professions, e.g. veterinary welfare assistants, veterinary physical rehabilitation, etc.
