Examination information for veterinary and para-veterinary professional examinations

Read the FAQ in addition to the document below.

The examination documents are reviewed annually in January. Information may change annually as well as the application and examination fees.

Application forms must be complete and all enrolment requirements met and received by the SAVC on 31 May annually.

No applications will be considered after 30 April annually.
Applications must be received as a complete set of documents and must not be submitted in stages.
Prospective applicants need to prepare for compliance with the examination requirements and read all documents as follows:

Veterinary Examination

A candidate whose qualification/institution do not appear on the LIST and who is the first person to apply to sit the Council Registration Examination with that qualification must submit the full curriculum and course content to the SAVC Administration for evaluation and approval to allow entry into the examination. Council, at any time, reserves the right to request curriculum detail from a candidate regardless of whether the qualification/institution appears on the stated lists. Council further reserves the right to request further supporting documentation as deemed necessary.  The submission must be received before the end of December in the year prior to the year in which the candidate intends to apply to sit the examination. Submission of curricula does not automatically guarantee a place in the examination.

  2. [B checklist] signed before a Commissioner of Oaths in SA or at the SA embassy abroad
  3. Full payment in the amount of R34 238,00 (R517.00 admin fee included). Kindly note that the fees are non-refundable
  4. After 2 June 2021 no withdrawn applications from the examination will be placed back on the list of examination candidates
  5. Details of the examination are available as per the listed links under items C-H below:

 Veterinary Nursing Examination
