VETERINARY NURSE/AHT – UMHLATHUZE

The Richards Bay SPCA is looking to employ a Veterinary Nurse or Animal Health Technician. We operate in the Umhlathuze and surrounding rural areas.

We require the Veterinary Nurse/Animal Health Technician to perform the following duties:  

  • Basic primary animal care on small animals.
  • Vaccination, deworming, and parasite control on small animals.
  • Dealing with sick/injured animals.
  • Euthanasia of small animals.

Requirements:

  • Preference will be given to a member of the local community.
  • Must have own transport and accommodation.

The employer will apply for extension of registration to perform euthanasia on the employee’s behalf.

  • Examining a patient and recognising a healthy animal
  • Basic husbandry

  • A minimum of two years’ experience working with indigenous wildlife

Three SAVC registered veterinary surgeons are required by Baker McVeigh Equine Hospital (Pty) Ltd for dual-centres (Durban & Cape Town) veterinary practices, with the potential to travel to our Newmarket, England branch. Racing and Stud management experience is essential.

Candidates must have extensive experience in equine practice and the ability to manage referral caseloads (including colics and neonatal intensive care).
