VETERINARY NURSE/AHT – PORT ELIZABETH

SANCCOB, an internationally recognised seabird conservation organisation, is seeking to employ a full-time Veterinary Nurse or Animal Health Technician to fill an integral role as a veterinary professional on-site at the Port Elizabeth centre in the Eastern Cape.

VETERINARY NURSES/AHTs – BETHAL

The SPCA Bethal seeks the services of two veterinary nurses or animal health technicians to perform service in animal welfare as follows:
 
•    Understanding the role and responsibility of the AWA in terms of the ACT
•    Examining a patient and recognising a Healthy Animal
•    Basic Care and Handling of animals, i.e. feeding, housing, confinement etc
•    Administration of Medicines
•    Vaccinations, deworming and external Parasite Control
•    Dealing with injured Animals, i.e. understanding asepsis, cleaning wounds, applying pressure bandage for haemorrhage, etc
•    Understanding Zoonosis and identifying contagious animal diseases, i.e. Sarcoptic Mange, Ear mites, Distemper, Rabies, Kennel Cough, Snuffels, etc.
•    Performing Euthanasia as an act of kindness -  paperwork, handling and storing of medicines, Protocol for dealing with Rabies/suspected Rabies
