The committee ensures that veterinary facilities upkeep the minimum standards for facilities and conducts routine inspections.  They carefully review and screen the inspectors who conduct the inspections and facilitate the training of inspectors to ensure uniform criteria.

The co-option and appointment of members to the Investigation Committee is temporary, until the Terms of Reference (ToR) of the IC has been finalised by the IC and approved by the full Council. The committee is responsible for the setting of standards in postgraduate veterinary training programmes. The committee regularly revises and approves the standard operating procedures and guidelines documents for monitoring training for prescribed specialist qualifications.

The committee is responsible for the setting of standards in undergraduate veterinary and para-veterinary training programmes. This involves the monitoring of all subjects for all prescribed qualifications as well as visitations to training institutions. The committee oversees the offering of regular registration examinations for holders of non-prescribed qualifications and for persons removed from the register for longer than three years.

They focus on new veterinary faculties and foster regional harmonisation in training of all veterinary professions and para-professions. They also oversee the process of bringing new veterinary para-professions on board.

The accreditation of CPD applications, both from CPD providers and from individuals, is dealt with by the committee.
