Registration of Animal health technician Facilities
In terms of the Veterinary and Para-Veterinary Act, Act 19 of 1982, no persons may practice veterinary and para-veterinary professions from an unregistered facility. Therefore, all facilities where animal health technician services are conducted must be registered with the SAVC.
For an animal health technician facility to be registered with Council, it must comply with set minimum standards stipulated in the rules for animal health technician facilities. The minimum standards are described in Rules relating to the practising of the animal health technician professions and animal health technician facilities. To assist you in ensuring that your facility complies with the minimum standards, it is required that you conduct a self-evaluation of the facility and submit the completed form with your application for registration of your facility.
