Letter of Good Standing
If you wish to register with a veterinary or para-veterinary regulatory authority in another country, you may be asked to provide them with a Letter of Good Standing from the regulatory authority you are currently registered with. A Letter of Good Standing confirms that you are or have been a registree of the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC), that you are not the subject of any pending disciplinary enquiries and that there are no disciplinary findings currently in effect against you.
A Letter of Good Standing is valid for 3 months.
The following documents must be submitted to enable us to assist with the application for Letter of Good Standing:
- Completed application form;
- Proof of CPD; and
- Proof of payment of the applicable fee.
Maintenance fee should be paid up to date.
Duplicate SAVC registration certificate
In order to issue a duplicate SAVC registration certificate, you must submit the following documentation:
- completed application form;
- evidence of destroyed SAVC registration certificate/an affidavit stating that the certificate is no longer in your possession; and
- proof of payment of the applicable fee.
Change of surname
In order to amend your personal details, i.e. change of surname, you must submit the following documentation:
- completed application form;
- certified copy of new ID;
- certified copy of marriage certificate (if applicable);
- evidence of destroyed SAVC registration certificate/ an affidavit stating that the certificate is no longer in your possession; and
- proof of payment of the applicable fee.
Inscription
Should you wish to have your additional qualification to be affixed to your professional title, you must submit the following documentation:
- completed application form;
- certified copy of qualification to be inscribed; and
- proof of payment of the applicable fee.
To qualify for a special dispensation, registrees must apply annually by furnishing one or more of the following:
- If unemployed, a current affidavit (not older than 3 months) confirming unemployment.
- If enrolled for full time postgraduate studies, proof of current enrolment with the relevant-training institution for veterinary or para-veterinary studies;
- If ill health, a current medical certificate;
- If abroad, current proof of residence (not older than 3 months) (utility bill or employment);
- If employed in another field of work, proof of employment (job description).

Please note that once you receive an automated email response from finance@savc.org.za, your email has been received. Please do not follow up on your submission. The SAVC will provide feedback on applications by 20 March 2026.
Special dispensations for unemployed animal health technicians registrees are not granted for more than five consecutive years.
No special dispensations will be granted after 28 February 2026 due to processing of invoices in time for issuing. Therefore, you will be liable for payment of the full maintenance fee if you do not meet the deadline.
