Registration of veterinary facilities

In terms of the Veterinary and Para-Veterinary Act, Act 19 of 1982, no persons may practice veterinary professions from an unregistered facility. Therefore, all facilities where veterinary services are conducted must be registered with the SAVC.

For a veterinary facility to be registered with Council, it must comply with set minimum standards stipulated in the rules according to the category of registration. The minimum standards are described in Rules 18 – 35 of the rules relating to the practising of the veterinary professions. To assist you in ensuring that your facility complies with the minimum standards, it is required that you conduct a self-evaluation of the facility and submit the completed form with your application for registration of your facility.
