A famous motivational speaker and business leader, Jim Rohn, wrote this quote: “Success is 20% skills and 80% strategy. You might know how to succeed, but more importantly, what’s your plan to succeed?”
Council developed its strategic goals, the One Strategy to lead the SAVC into its term of office 2019/2022. These goals were determined after a thorough evaluation process, where we focused on where we are as an industry and where we want the industry to be.
Below a summary of what the One Strategy goals are (these goals will be discussed individually in later communication):
- Double the good stories communicated to registrees/stakeholders. The aim is to gather and publish good stories. We will review the SAVC’s target audience profile and adjust the channels used to reflect the good stories. In doing so, we will create a ‘good story’ internal culture and build SAVC media relations.
- Internal goal: Better registree/stakeholder experience through information and sharing good stories. The aim is to improve services and turnaround time. Thus, we will need to improve our operational communication and adopt a team-orientated approach, rather than a silo-approach across sections. We will become a fit for purpose team with a fit for purpose process. This will improve stakeholder engagement and strengthen our government relations as government is a key stakeholder of the SAVC.
- Improved veterinary team value appreciation The aim is to strengthen the role of the veterinary team. We will build media relations to better promote and celebrate the industry to achieve this.
- Employ technology
The aim is to enhance the use of video conferencing, automate CPD logging, enable electronic elections through an electronic voting system, enhance the current IT system and train staff as the IT system is enhanced.
These goals will be implemented while we continue to do the good work we are doing. We will be having more conversations about the One Strategy and the implementation thereof in the near future.
