We are proud to announce the appointment of Mr Mongezi Menye as Registrar/CEO of the South African Veterinary Council, with effect from 1 November 2020.
Mr Menye is a law graduate with a B.Juris (Law) degree and Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree in Conflict, Transformation, and Management. He also holds an African Ombudsman Mediation Certificate and numerous certificates in Forensic and Investigative Auditing.
He has extensive leadership experience in both private and public sectors, particularly in the regulatory and legal compliance environment. He gained experience at organisations like the Legal Aid Board, Road Accident Fund (RAF), ABSA Bank, and the Competition Commission of South Africa.
A family man, Mr Menye has been married for 16 years and has a son (17) and a daughter (12).
He believes that time with family is very important. He enjoys sharing laughs with his kids and his daughter especially makes him laugh with the funny stories that she tells.
Mr Menye still makes time for studies. He is currently studying towards his second master’s degree, Master of Laws (LLM), majoring in Corporate Law and Governance.
Learning is clearly a high priority for him and therefore, his favourite books deal with topics that he can learn from, like leadership and motivational speaking.
He believes that the best gift he has ever been given was the education that his parents provided him.
His greatest wish is for our country to navigate out of the economic crisis that has been caused by Covid-19 pandemic and corruption. He hopes for ethical leadership to be the guiding light out of this turmoil, as it was unethical behaviour that got us here in the first place.
A bit closer to home, Mr Menye wishes for the SAVC and registrees to work hand in glove. He wishes for the SAVC to be a strategic partner to registrees, as opposed to a big brother. Mr Menye would like to reassure our registrees that they are a key stakeholder of the SAVC, and continuous robust engagements will be taking place.
Mr Menye has a passion for developing people. And what drives him to do the work he does at the SAVC is that he has an ardent interest in governance, and he believes that this is a noble profession.
We congratulate and wish him great success in this exciting and huge responsibility. Mr Menye, welcome to our SAVC team.
